Solution Overview:
This article looks at the logic for why Skills audits can be beneficial to businesses, and walks through the different steps in the user journey.
Why Skills audits?
- Quick to complete and keep updated (10-15 mins).
- Provide an understanding of the skills required and gaps the organization currently has.
- To identify innate abilities and attributes that are flexible and can be used across different job roles (soft skills, managerial skills, leadership skills).
- Present a targeted analysis of development needs. and a listing of people who need development.
- Generates data that can be used for purposes such as internal selection, dynamic succession planning, or to demonstrate an audit trail of dynamic skill progression for compliance or project bids.
- Create information to use in targeted development work groups in Pinnacle Series.
Skills audit process
Typically, a Skills audit invite is sent to users via email. Click the blue link to initiate the Skills audit.
The KnowledgeSmart Skills audit user interface (UI) is mobile responsive and works equally well on desktop, tablet, or mobile screens. To begin, go to the Skills audit start page, enter your username and password, then click 'Continue'.
Read the Skills audit summary and rating descriptions, then click the Continue button.
Enter your Skills ratings by selecting the relevant answer boxes.
Refer to the bar at the top of the screen to see how many pages of questions will be presented during the Skills audit.
Questions are grouped by module on the Skills audit UI. Each module presents on a separate page of the skills survey. Module descriptions can also be displayed on screen.
Use the buttons at the bottom of the screen to navigate through the Skills audit pages. Click 'Previous' to return to previously submitted ratings.
Click 'Finish' to submit your Skills ratings.
A popup message will display, allowing you to return to the Skills audit and edit your answers, or to complete the Skills audit and submit your ratings data.
At the end of the Skills audit, a confirmation page displays, with a summary of your Skills ratings data.
Click 'Exit Skills Audit' to finish.
The 'My Skills' area of your user profile page helps you understand your current skill gaps and areas of high proficiency. Click here for an article about individual user pages.
Your company will now be able to analyze your results and background information, to optimize recruitment, training initiatives and project resource management.
