KnowledgeSmart Assessments are mapped to Learning Paths and Courses from Content Tools KnowledgeSmart Mapping in the Pinnacle Series Admin Portal — not from the Classic Management Utility referenced in older documentation. These mappings, called Training Templates, are used to build personalized training for a user based on the skill gaps identified after they take a KnowledgeSmart Assessment. Training Templates can be added, removed, or restored to their defaults for one or more selected Assessments.

Open KnowledgeSmart Mapping
- Open Content.
- Select Tools.

Select KnowledgeSmart Mapping.
Confirm the Map KnowledgeSmart Assessment window opens.
Reviewing Current Mappings
The Map KnowledgeSmart Assessment window lists every KnowledgeSmart Assessment, its Type (Learning Path or Course), and its mapped Training Template - the specific Learning Path(s) or Course(s) assigned to that Assessment. An Assessment with no mapping shows Not Mapped in place of a Training Template. Use the Search Assessments field to find a specific Assessment.
What a Mapping Does
Learning Paths and Courses mapped to a KnowledgeSmart Assessment are used as Training Templates. When a user takes that Assessment, their results are used to identify skill gaps, and the mapped Training Template is used to build personalized training addressing those gaps.
Remove a Mapped Training Template
- Select the checkbox next to the Assessment with the Training Template you want to remove.
- Select the x icon next to the Training Template you want to remove.

In the Remove Training Templates window, select Remove to confirm.
Confirm the Assessment's Training Template column now shows Not Mapped (or, if other Training Templates remain mapped to it, that the removed one no longer appears).
Restore an Assessment's Default Training Templates
- Select the checkbox next to each Assessment you want to restore.
- Select Restore Default Templates.

In the Restore Default Templates window, select Restore to confirm.
Confirm each selected Assessment's default Training Template(s) now appear again in the Training Template column.
Map New or Additional Training to an Assessment
- Select the checkbox next to the Assessment you want to add training to.
- Select Add Training.
- In the Add Training window, search for content using the search field, or narrow the results using the Publisher, Libraries, Topics, Content Type, Duration, Difficulty, or Keywords filters, then select Apply Search & Filter.
- Select the checkbox on each piece of content you want to map to the Assessment.

Select Save.
Confirm the content you selected now appears as a Training Template for that Assessment. To remove a specific Training Template you no longer want mapped, follow "Remove a Mapped Training Template" above.
