Quick Answer
To move a user between tenants when their learning history does not need to be retained, remove them from the old tenant, add them to the new tenant, then manually exclude them from Active Directory (AD) sync if the new tenant has AD sync enabled, to prevent the sync from automatically deleting the user.
What This Article Helps With
This article is for Pinnacle Series Administrators who need to move a user from one tenant to another, including the precautions required when the destination tenant uses Active Directory (AD) sync.
Before You Begin
Before moving a user, confirm with the relevant parties whether their learning history and data need to be retained during the transfer. The steps in this article apply only when learning data retention is not required.
Move a User to a New Tenant
- Verify the tenant account the user currently resides in.
- Confirm with the relevant parties that the user's learning history does not need to be retained during the transfer.
- Remove and deprecate the user from their current tenant.
- Add the user to the destination tenant.
- Check whether the new tenant has Active Directory (AD) sync enabled.
- If AD sync is enabled, manually exclude the newly added user from AD sync. This prevents the system from automatically deleting the user.
- Manually add any required Groups or permissions to the user's new profile; these do not transfer automatically.
Confirm the user can log in to the new tenant, has the expected Groups and permissions, and remains excluded from AD sync if applicable.
