Common Questions
How Do I Turn Spark On or Off for a Group?
Spark access is controlled by the Features > SPARK toggle in Group Details. In the Pinnacle Series Admin Portal, go to Administration > Groups, select a Group, open Group Details, and turn the Features > SPARK toggle on or off in the right panel.
How Can Managers Influence Spark Recommendations?
- Set Group Interests to guide which topics and tools Spark recommends to the Group.
- Share the right Libraries with the Group, since Spark surfaces content from shared Libraries.
- Engage users through Spark's In-App Notification and Email Notification channels.
- Upload internal nano clips of 5 minutes or less so your organization's own content appears alongside standard Spark content.
Microsoft Teams integration for Spark notifications is also now available.
How Does Spark Activity Appear in Reporting?
- Spark video starts and completions are tracked separately from Assignments.
- A completed Spark video is hidden from further Spark suggestions for 90 days, after which it becomes eligible again.
- Administrators can choose whether to include or exclude Spark engagement in consolidated reporting exports.
What Happens When a Group Loses Access to Spark?
- A user actively interacting with Spark sees a popup indicating access has been removed.
- After the user closes the popup, the page refreshes, Spark items disappear, and direct links to Spark content display "Access Denied."
- Spark recommendations stop immediately for affected users.
Set the Frequency of Spark Notifications for a Group
- In the Pinnacle Series Admin Portal, go to Administration > Groups.
- Select the Group you want to configure.
- Open Group Details.
- In the right panel, confirm the Features > SPARK toggle is on.
- Scroll to the SPARK Notifications panel.
- Select In-App Notification and/or Email Notification to choose delivery channels.
- Open the Frequency dropdown and select Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
- Optionally, select Modify Welcome Email and/or Modify Notification Email to adjust the subject, body, and tone of the Group's Spark emails.
- Select Save.
The change applies to all current Group members. To confirm it was saved, reopen Group Details and check that the selected channels and Frequency are displayed under SPARK Notifications.
Configure Group Interests
- In the Pinnacle Series Admin Portal, go to Settings > Users > User Interests.
- Select Add Interest.
- Check the box beside each interest you want to associate with the current Group.
- Select Add to confirm.
To confirm the change, check the Interests area for the Group: a newly added Group Interest appears with a bright blue background.
Helpful Tips
- Launch Spark with a few priority topics per Group rather than enabling everything at once.
- Coach users to write precise "Just For You" entries that specify product, version, and difficulty.
- Set your notification cadence to match your organization's communications policy.
- Review Group Interests quarterly as projects change, and periodically audit which Libraries are shared with each Group.
- Notification cadence is set per Group - use separate Groups if different audiences need different schedules.
- Spark email templates send in the language shown in the editor and are not automatically translated.
- If both In-App Notification and Email Notification are enabled for a Group, users receive both.
