Common Questions
What Is Spark?
Spark delivers short videos, typically 3 to 5 minutes long, chosen for your personal interests, your Group's focus areas, or default hero software tools. It supplements structured training in Pinnacle Series with timely reminders and fresh ideas, and is part of the Peak Experience.
What Is the "Just For You" Section?
"Just For You" is a free-text field, limited to 4,096 characters, where you list skills as keywords or phrases separated by commas. Spark matches your entries against video titles, descriptions, topics, chapters, keywords, and transcripts. Use quotation marks around a phrase for an exact-phrase match.
How Does Spark Choose What I See?
Spark selects content using a priority order. User Preferences take the highest priority - set under Edit Preferences, these include industry, hero tools, and keywords. Group Interests, set by your manager or an administrator, come next. Hero Products are used only when no preferences are set.
How Does Spark Track Progress?
A progress circle indicates a video has been started. A green checkmark indicates a video is complete, which requires watching the last 10 seconds of the video. Completed videos are hidden from Spark suggestions for 90 days, after which they may reappear if they still match your preferences.
What Is the "Up Next" Playlist?
The "Up Next" playlist automatically queues videos based on your preferences, your Group's interests, and the hero products tracked for your organization.
Does Spark Auto-Play Videos, and Must I Watch Them in Order?
Spark automatically plays the next available video when one ends. The playlist auto-scrolls and keeps the transcript open if the video has one. Completed videos are skipped automatically, but you can select any video in the list to watch out of order.
What Happens When I Complete a Spark Video?
The completed video is removed from your playlist, and a new video is added to keep your playlist at 25 videos. A completed video can reappear after 90 days if it still matches your current preferences.
Will the Interface and Transcript Match My Language Settings?
A Spark video's voice-over stays in the video's original language. The transcript, captions, and the Spark interface itself adapt to the language set in your profile.
Can I View and Search the Video Transcript?
Yes. Select the « icon on the right side of the video player to open the transcript. You can search within the transcript, turn on auto-scroll to follow along with the video, and select the » icon to collapse the transcript again.
What Does the Three-Dots Icon Do in the Video Player?
The three-dots icon, labeled More Options in the video player, opens additional actions, including Save to Bookmarks and copying a formatted or unformatted link to share with colleagues.
What Videos Appear in Spark, and Why Is There a 5-Minute Limit?
Spark only includes videos that are 5 minutes or shorter, so they can be completed quickly during work. Spark supports Pinnacle Series native videos as well as YouTube and Vimeo videos, though videos from external sources do not report duration or completion progress back to Spark. A longer video can still be included in Spark if it has been edited into segments of 5 minutes or less.
Why Does My Playlist Include Videos That Don't Match My Preferences?
Your preferences may be set too broadly. If fewer than 25 videos match your preferences, Spark fills the rest of your playlist with featured content from the hero products: Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Navisworks, Inventor, Bluebeam, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
How Soon Will the Same Video Reappear in My Playlist?
A completed video can resurface in your Spark playlist after 90 days, provided your current preferences still match its content.
What Happens if I Lose Access to Spark?
Access to Spark is controlled by Group membership. If your Group disables Spark, or you are removed from a Group that has Spark enabled, you will see a popup the next time you interact with Spark. Closing the popup refreshes the page and removes Spark items from view. Opening a direct link to Spark content after losing access displays "Access Denied."
Helpful Tips
- Be specific. For example, "Revit families 2025 intermediate" works better as a "Just For You" entry than "Revit" alone.
- Limit yourself to 2 to 3 focus areas at a time so your 25-item playlist stays focused.
- Use metadata such as product, version, difficulty, keywords, and Learning Tags in your "Just For You" entries.
- Refine your "Just For You" entries often. Spark updates your playlist immediately, so start narrow and expand as needed. For example, entries such as "Navisworks clash detection advanced," "Autodesk Construction Cloud coordination," "Bluebeam Revu field," "2026," or "Accredited" can help narrow results.
