Spark FAQ for End Users
Your go-to guide for understanding nano learning, playlists, and personal preferences.
What is Spark?
Spark is part of the Peak Experience and brings you AI-powered nano learning — short, 3–5 minute videos tailored to your personal interests, your team’s focus areas, or our default hero software tools. It works alongside your structured training, giving you timely nudges that reinforce key concepts, keep skills sharp, and surface fresh ideas right when you need them.
What is the "Just For You" Section?
Use the free-text box (up to 4,096 characters) to capture the skills you want and separate each keyword or key phrase by a comma. Spark matches terms found in titles, descriptions, topics, chapters, keywords, and transcripts. Use quotes for exact phrase matches.
- Be specific: “Revit families 2025 intermediate” beats “Revit”.
- Limit scope: 2–3 focus areas at a time keep your 25-item playlist sharp.
- Leverage metadata: product (topic), version (sub-topic), difficulty, keywords and learning tags.
- Refine often: adjust as projects change; Spark updates immediately. If you playlist does not match your expectation consider refining your preferences to be more targeted to your current need. Start with a narrow focus and expand from there.
Example: “Navisworks clash detection advanced”, “Autodesk Construction Cloud coordination”, “Bluebeam Revu field”, "2026", "Accredited".
How does Speak choose what I see?
- User Preferences (highest priority) — choose industry, hero tools, and keywords in Edit Preferences.
- Group Interests — set by your manager/admin.
- Hero Products — used if no preferences are set.
How does Spark track progress?
- Progress circle = started; green checkmark = completed (last 10 seconds watched).
- Completed videos are hidden from Spark suggestions for 90 days to keep your feed fresh.
- After 90 days, they may reappear if still relevant to your preferences.
What is the "Up Next" playlist?
- The “Up Next” playlist automatically queues videos based on your preferences, group interests, and hero products.
Does Spark 'auto-play', and do I have to watch in order?
- Yes, when a video ends, Spark auto-plays the next available item; the list auto-scrolls and keeps the transcript open (if available).
- Completed items are skipped; if you reach the end, Spark continues with the next unwatched video.
- You’re in control: click any item at any time to watch out of order.
What happens when I complete a video?
- The video is removed from your playlist and a new Spark will be added, keeping your playlist at 25 videos.
- Completed videos may re-appear in your playlist after 90 days if they are still a match for current preference settings.
Will the interface and transcript match my language settings?
- Voice-over remains in the video’s original language.
- Transcript, captions, and Spark UI elements adapt to your profile language.
Can I view and search the transcript?
- Yes. Open the transcript using the « icon on the right, search within it, enable auto-scroll to follow along, and collapse with » when finished.
What does the three-dots icon do?
- Click the three dots (More Options) in the video player to open actions like Save to Bookmarks or copy a formatted/unformatted link to share with colleagues.
What videos appear in Spark, and why only 5 minutes or less?
- Eligible videos are 5 minutes or shorter to support nano learning and quick completion in the flow of work.
- Supports Pinnacle native videos, YouTube, and Vimeo (external sources do not report duration/progress).
- Longer videos can be included if edited into ≤5-minute segments.
Why does my playlist include videos that don’t fully match my preferences?
- Your preferences may be too broad, so narrow down your keywords and software tools selections for a more targeted playlist.
- If we can’t find 25 videos that match your preferences, we’ll complete your playlist with featured content from our hero products:
- Revit
- AutoCAD
- Civil 3D
- InfraWorks
- Navisworks
- Inventor
- Bluebeam
- Autodesk Construction Cloud
How soon am I likely to see the same video appear in my playlist?
- Our system will resurface the same video after a period of 90 days, provided your current preference settings still match the video content.
What if I lose access to Spark?
- Spark access is controlled by group membership. If your group disables Spark or you’re removed, you’ll see a popup the next time you interact with Spark. Closing it refreshes the page and removes Spark items. Direct links will show Access Denied.
