Common Causes/Issues:
- Your users are reporting this issue error message when trying to access the MU or Pinnacle Series browser
- Learn more about which ports the MU uses or communicates with our services.
- Learn more about FIPS compliance.
Solution Overview:
- The MU uses port 443, which is the standard port for TLS/SSL.
- If an organization or system is not FIPS compliant, it means that the cryptographic modules, protocols, or processes it uses do not meet the standards outlined by the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), specifically FIPS 140-2 or FIPS 140-3. These standards are used by U.S. federal agencies and many other organizations to ensure that systems handle sensitive data securely, especially in relation to encryption, authentication, and data integrity.
- We recommend the following workaround for users who encounter the above error when trying to access our solutions.
- For users trying to run the MU, create an exception in your FIPS configuration for our pinnacle.exe application.
- For users who cannot access the Pinnacle Series browser, the only current workaround is to disable the FIPS-compliant requirement in the user’s registry and keep a tracking list of everyone for whom it is disabled.
- We are currently in the discovery phase of exploring FIPS compliance and actively gathering information to enhance our understanding and capabilities. We will update this article with more details and guidance as we progress. In the meantime, if you have specific requirements or questions regarding FIPS compliance, please get in touch with our support team for further assistance.
